Hey,
"We can make dumplings, yes, but we can make sweet and sour chicken too!" said an excited student at KTV. Well, knowing the I can't really return to the UK without knowing how to make sweet and sour properly, a lunchtime cooking lesson was in order. Of course, in China "I'll come an teach you how to make this." really means "We will all come over, and teach you to make a feast of nine or ten dishes and insist on doing the washing up." So, I've got the recipes for: sweet and sour Chicken (Zhengzhou style), egg & tomato salad, tofu and cabbage, fish-flavoured chicken, kung pao chicken (Dad you loved this one), spiced aubergine, Chinese chips without the soup, egg & spring onions, and fried pak choi. Just looking at the pictures makes me hungry! X

This brings back wonderful memories of the dumpling class... I recognise a lot of the girls.

Hey Ed. My girlfriend Anna and I (something else we have in common!) will be moving to Zhengzhou in August to teach English at Henan Institute of Education. I have really enjoyed following your blog over the past few months. Thanks for sharing your experiences and insights!

Wow ... what an Oriental Hot-Pot you had. What a great, fun bunch of students you've had over there. I recognised some of the happy, smiling faces and it certainly brought back great memories of "Dumpling Day". Loving the thought that, if all else fails, you'll be able to get a job as a chef at the Lotus Floating Restaurant ! They've recently opened a Chinese Supermarket nearby so you won't go short of ingredients. Happy days xx
