I'm talking to a student about Saturday night. He wants Anna and me to present The King's Speech to members of English Club. He asks me to give him a copy of the film (with subtitles), a photo of the two of us, and brief bio.
English Club then does this with them: Right. We're all packed up, having made lists and lists and been through every cupboard and found things that I'd forgotten I'd even brought to China. The washing's all done, the apartment's been swept and I've turned everything off. The plants are going to be watered and we've got clean clothes for when we get back.
Passports: check. Visas: can be got in Kunming and on the Laos border. Cameras: check. Malaria pills: check and double check. Cash, cards and phones: check. Everything else: check. I think. Excited? You bet! We're staying in a hostel tonight, unless our CouchSurfing contact gets in touch before we get a taxi to the airport at 4.30pm our time, and taking a bus to Dali tomorrow morning. We'll be there for a few days, then pass through some villages on the way to Lijiang, which is probably the next place I'll be online. So, so long, farewell... Speak to you in a week or so. Gran, try not to panic too much, I'll be fine. Everybody sit back and enjoy this cool panoramic photo of the flat I took with my swish new camera. Love to all, X Just in case you've forgotten. It's really big on campus, with all the students wishing us 'a Happy Thanksgivinger'.
There's no turkey dinner laid on - which poses challenges for Christmas. You know, a real holiday! In case you missed them, Anna's got some more photos up here - of the car show and the student's home in Xinxiang. This is my personal favourite in the "Crap car with awful dancers" category. After much hard work, a fair few obscenities and copious amounts of Lipton's Ice Tea, this issue has been resolved.
In case you didn't catch it, Anna's blogged about the journey and those morning exercises outside the window at 6am.
I'm going to Zhengzhou with Anna, who's also started a blog. It's online here.
